In case you are curious Kenneth, the Frequency is a cool venue off the capitol square of Madison, WI. I always like driving into this place as it simply just feels compact and good. It's grand but homey and hey, it's Wisconsin.
Our booking agent said that this particular place was one of the favorite stops for her roster of bands, so naturally I was curious having never been there before. I was surprised to find it's not on State street which is somewhat downtown central, but anywhere off the main square is happening nonetheless.
Upon entry we were greeted with a cool set up. Bar in front with a decent sized back room and cool stage in back.
We were there on a Tuesday and as Tuesdays go on the road, they tend to be quiet. But I was excited anyways. With a roster of three other acts on the bill, we were going to have company nonetheless and it turns out the two bars next door fed us some last minute fans we rounded up by human bull horn.
Aside from cool sets by the True Jacqueline and JD the wandering minstrel, we were also joined by Betsy and a small group of her friends one of whom it turns out is a Gemini.
All in all we were glad to get our foot in the door on an off night. And I think we did more good than we might have hoped for. One reason we played such a great set, probably the best of the tour thus far, was we had great sound. And any place with great sound is a place we can topple and look forward to returning to again.
So we'll see you next time Madison. Keep the curds crunchy and enjoy the summer.
